Your pump is your best friend.....
Having a good pump is very important if you want to succeed in breastfeeding. It is even more important if you are a working mum. While good pumps can be very costly, it is very worth the investment. A good pump would have speed and strength suction funtions. The better the pump is, the easier and faster it is for you to express your milk.
When choosing breast pumps, I find that using one with a silent motor is important especially when I am feeding and pumping at the same time so as not to disturb my baby.
Here are some of my experience:
Avent Isis: noise level = C (grade A-D, D being very noisy)
Medela Pump In Style (PIS) = A
Spectra 7 = A
Reasons why it is worth investing in a good dual electric pump:
1) Saves time. You can express milk with less effort.
2) You will be bringing your pump with you almost everyday if you are working.
3) Success rate in breastfeeding will be high as you will be able to empty your breast easily and with less time consumed.
4) With a dual electric pump, you will be able to save half the time as compared to a single pump.
5) You will be using it very often.
6) Longer lasting.
7) The good ones are often silent. There would be times where you would pump while nursing baby at the same time. An effective way to save time and boost milk supply.
8) You save money on not buying formula milk.
9) Saves money on doctor's fees as breast feeding babies don't easily get sick. And if there do, recovers fast.
10) Your baby will enjoy the many benefits of breast milk.
Please check the warranty period before getting your pumps. Distributors provide longer warranty period.

Avent Isis IQ Duo

I am currently using this pump. I started with one and later bought another one so that I could pump both sides at one time. It is cheaper to get 2 Avent Uno then getting 1 Avent Duo. You could also convert this to a manual pump.
Good features:
1) You can either use it as a single or dual pump.
2) Strength suction funtions.
3) Speed suction funtions.
Down side:
1) Noise level is quite high

Spectra 7 Electric Breast Pump
I am also using this pump at the moment. I uses this especially when I am pumping and latching at the same time as the motor is much more silent than Avent. This is considered a very good pump with affordable price.
Good features:
1) You can either use it as a single or dual pump.
2) Strength suction funtions.
3) Silent motor
4) Affordable price
Down side:
1) Can't adjust the speed of suctions
2) This pump is not as effective as the Avent or Medela pumps I recommended above.
